Equipment and Transport

Description

-  Responsible for receiving and fulfilling wishlists from students going on overseas electives. Wishlists are lists of medical equipment and supplies which the hospital/town that the student is going to requires.

-  This involves purchasing items for wishlists or receiving donated items. E and T is not responsible for asking companies for donations (this is the responsibility of sponsorship and fundraising)

-  Matching and allocating donated and bought items to wishlists

- Liasing with biomedical engineers who teach us how to use the equipment we receive

- Organising collection, transport, sorting, packing, shipping, insurance, pharmaceutical clearance and customs clearance for aid dispatches.

- Managing storage facilities for items

- Values all items donated or bought

Good for: people interested in the ‘hands on’ aspect of the aid project, students thinking of planning their own overseas elective, those who want to learn more about medical equipment and how it works

Note: it is helpful (but not essential) to have a car to help with transportation of equipment and to get out to our current storage facilities for packing days.
